Penny Stotter is based in Auckland, and completed her Fine Arts Degree at the Ilam School of Arts, Christchurch. Inspired by her love of pattern making, Penny’s work is characterized by meticulous arrangement of shapes into their final compositions and demonstrates a playful engagement with positive and negative space through her earlier experiences as a graphic designer.

Penny’s most recent works form a series titled 'Precious Vessels'. Look closely at these still lifes and you'll see they are actually far from 'still'. Teeming with life, the vases hold pukeko mingling with kowhai, kea alongside flax and tui amongst pohutukawa … flora and fauna more precious even than the vessels they adorn.
