Australian artist Graeme Peebles has over the last 40 years forged a unique place in the Australian printmaking landscape as a master of the mezzotint technique. His most recent body of work draws inspiration from the sea creatures of his beachside home of Point Lonsdale on the Mornington Peninsular in Victoria, Australia.
Diving the silent depths of the ocean, these works investigate the magnitude and minutiae of mysterious marine life. Graeme exploits the powerful depth of tone possible through the mezzotint medium and combined with a restrained use of colour, builds an ambigious and dreamlike pictorial space for these creatures.
Images of Graeme Peeble's works will appear on the website on the Thursday after the exhibition opening, 15 June.
