Damon studied printmaking at the Victorian College of the Arts and Glasgow School of Art as well as Advanced Figure Drawing with Godwin Bradbeer at RMIT. In 2000 he graduated from VCA with a Bachelor of Fine Art (Honours) in Printmaking.

Since graduating he has continued to make prints and worked as a courtroom, scientific and archaeological illustrator. The last enterprise led him to receiving an Ian Potter Cultural Trust Grant to travel to Egypt in 2002 and assist as an Archaeological Illustrator on a dig for the Dakhleh Oasis Project in the western desert of Egypt.

In early 2003 he undertook a residency at the Townhouse Gallery, a contemporary arts space in downtown Cairo. On returning to Australia he was awarded a 2004 Australian Print Workshop Collie Print Trust Emerging Victorian Printmakers Scholarship.

"This was a fantastic opportunity to work through the many ideas and drawings I had gathered while overseas. My work concentrates on a variety of intaglio techniques and explores the figure, often in combination with the landscapes and environments seen on my travels. I was particularly influenced by the stone and mud-brick architecture of Tunisia and Morocco with its fortifications, baroque details and light airy domes."

He continues to print on a regular basis at the APW in Fitzroy. He is currently working towards future shows and travel in the Middle and Near East.
