A group exhibition of new works by Vanessa Edwards & Alexis Neal.

Artists Vanessa Edwards and Alexis Neal have much in common. Both of Maori descent and while strongly connected to their Maori culture they both seek in their own way to question and expand their understanding of what it is to be Maori in contemporary New Zealand society. Growing up with respect for tradition and the cultural significance of Taonga (treasures) and the Wharenui (Maori meeting house) both artists have found their artistic expression in re-interpreting traditional patterns, stories and artifacts through the filter of their own lives.
