Anna Dalzell

Banks Peninsula based artist Anna Dalzell works in a wide variety of media, across printmaking, jewellery, sculpture and painting; the subject and research process often dictating where her concept may end up. Passionate about works on paper, Dazell celebrates the tradition of this within her practice but also aims to push the limitations or expectations of artistic mediums.

‘Dalzell’s engagement with the land, its history and the complex relationships it represents are revealed on various levels through her work, from the fundamentals as the land as site, environment, a possession, and resource and responsibility for all cultures and communities. Her concerns are founded upon the ‘big picture’ and the necessity of taking responsibility, her diverse means of expression, demarcating due attention to questions and issues that cannot be ignored’. – Warren Feeney, Artbeat September 2022.

Dalzell has taught drawing, printmaking and art therapy at schools, tertiary institutions and NGO’s here in Aotearoa and overseas and has participated in local, national and international exhibitions for more than two decades.
