Annie Smits Sandano: Fabled Paradise

While living in London, Sandano wanted to create work which responded to elements of her environment. Integrating basic concepts within Brutalism – an aesthetic that is very present in London, she set a framework to begin this new series. Mimicking the granular concrete surfaces, spray-painted graffiti gestures and cacophony of fractured bright visual information all in fierce competition for your attention. Sandano intends for this work to be understood as three-dimensional objects, frames are included – both structurally and formally. When the paintings hang in the gallery they relate to each other as do buildings in a city and a tiny city scape is formed.

There will be an opening event for this exhibition on 12 February 5.30pm-7pm
